Each summer, children wait for the last bell of the school year. Summer is an exciting time to enjoy playtime with friends, family vacations, enroll in summer camp or spend time at the pool. Yet, for many children who receive free and reduced-price meals at school, summer can mean hunger.
Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does a child’s need for good nutritional meals. Penn Center is announcing their second year as a sponsor for the summer feeding program in which they provide free meals to children under age 18, during the summer as part of the Department of Education’s Summer Food Service Program.
If you know of any summer programs that assist children in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, Colleton and Allendale counties who can utilize this free program please share this flyer or contact Naketah Nix at 843-838-8552 to register. No child should be left hungry during the summer.
